Heriot-Watt University • Global Head of Discipline (Communications & Design)

Associate Professor • Dubai and Scotland - I lead and manage the Communications and Design Discipline across global campuses, driving excellence in education and aligning with industry trends. By spearheading cross-functional collaboration and multidisciplinary teams, I deliver innovative, high-impact design strategies that push creative boundaries. My focus on design and strategic leadership strengthens external partnerships and bridges academia with real-world applications. Through this approach, I have consistently enhanced student outcomes, fostered industry engagement, and positioned six programmes as leaders in producing future-ready creative talent.

The House of Bruar • Head of Design

Creative • Brand • Digital • Print • Marcom - Led and managed all aspects of the design and creative output, ensuring alignment with The House of Bruar’s branding guidelines. Oversaw the creation of designs, concepts, and layouts, developing visual presentations that communicated a unique luxury shopping experience across print, digital, and social media channels. Supervised and executed creative projects including newsletters, advertisements, catalogues, packaging, and videos. Ensured all visual communications were cohesive, engaging, and tailored to the target audience, delivering a premium brand experience at every touchpoint.

I established comprehensive brand image guidelines, identified target markets, and set strategic business goals to drive brand growth. By leading the development of new product ranges, I embraced emerging trends, selected fabrics and colours, and refined technical processes to create new products. I also improved product quality by evaluating and redesigning key processes for optimal results. Additionally, I developed innovative marketing strategies, overseeing and approving artwork for advertising, digital marketing, and social media, ensuring full alignment with business objectives and customer needs to drive impact and engagement.

I implemented new platforms that significantly boosted sales across both B2B and B2C channels, driving notable revenue growth. Leading the creative direction for online branding, I ensured cohesive and compelling visual representation through photoshoots, e-commerce, and social media. I managed and coordinated design teams, production staff, and external agencies to deliver customer-centric content, overseeing all final approvals. Additionally, I provided data-driven insights to shape the product roadmap, spearheading ideation for new product development in collaboration with UX, tech, and development teams.

I led the distribution, design, and brand marketing strategy for GIVOVA UK, specialising in sports clothing and equipment tailored to the unique needs of UK teams and the market. By aligning product offerings with local demand, I ensured that GIVOVA’s sportswear and equipment resonated with the UK audience. Through strategic marketing and brand development, I helped drive awareness and engagement, positioning the brand as a trusted provider within the UK sports sector while collaborating closely with teams to deliver tailored solutions that met their performance needs.

Antony Morato & Morato Junior • Design and Product Manager

I was responsible for establishing and overseeing the entire Accessories department, driving its growth to achieve high annual turnover and targets. An independent business analyst recognized the department as the best for customer targeting and brand awareness. I defined the brand identity through innovative and futuristic concepts, managing sample development from material selection to production, including cost and margin analysis. I coordinated the entire process from design to production, collaborating with suppliers in Italy and offshore locations such as China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Turkey.

As Creative Lead, I implemented and led design and production teams, driving creative direction and ensuring seamless collaboration across departments. I managed the development and execution of design projects, fostering innovation while maintaining high-quality standards throughout the production process. By guiding teams in both creative and technical aspects, I ensured that concepts were brought to life effectively, meeting both aesthetic and business objectives. My leadership ensured that all design initiatives aligned with broader strategic goals, delivering impactful results across multiple channels.

Throughout my career, I’ve taken on diverse roles across graphic design, retail design, brand design, and marketing. I’ve created cohesive visual identities in graphic design that enhance brand communication across digital and print platforms. My retail design experience involves shaping in-store experiences that align with brand aesthetics and customer engagement. I’ve developed strategies in brand design that strengthen brand positioning and recognition. In marketing, I’ve crafted campaigns that leverage design to boost brand visibility and drive sales, integrating creativity with strategic goals to maximise impact across all channels.

Trend forecasting

I have developed advanced trend forecasting skills through extensive research using platforms like WGSN and Trendbible. By staying ahead of emerging trends around products, fashion, design, interiors, and consumer behaviour, I can anticipate market shifts and position brands for future success. My ability to analyse data, spot patterns, and translate these insights into actionable strategies has consistently helped businesses remain competitive and innovative. This forward-thinking approach enables me to drive creative solutions that align with both current and future industry demands.

Research

As technology evolves, I actively research and embrace innovations like G-AI, Spatial Computing, and Mixed Realities (VR, AR) to advance both education and industry while thoughtfully addressing ethical considerations and potential challenges.
